Garcinia Cambogia supplements are alike herbal supplements since they are derived from what you can find out in the nature. So, the fact that it is natural means that it couldn’t harm taking it right? Maybe but maybe not.
The truth of the matter is that research at the moment is not conclusive and clinical trials have yet to prove who should avoid it and how it interacts with certain health conditions. It is always advised to refer to a doctor before consuming a Garcinia Cambogia supplement, if you are a patient with the following conditions:
– People that suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in general
– People that have high blood sugar/diabetes or low blood sugar/hypoglycemia or those on prescription of medication to control blood sugar
– People trying to have a child, women who breastfeed or are pregnant
A 2005 study on mice found that Garcinia Cambogia if administered in high doses could cause toxicity. A medical expert Sue Decottis stated that since the extract is considered as a supplement and not a drug it cannot be regulated leading to a failure in “independent laboratory quality and quantity testing”. She also adds that “there probably will never be any objective data on garcinia”.
The potential side effects of Garcinia remain unknown and therefore we should be cautioned until further evidence comes to light.
